However, before we delve into these valuable resources, we invite you to join us as Shervin Shaffie shares his personal journey, reflecting on the steps that have shaped his path over time.

"My journey into the tech world began with my Electrical Engineering studies at the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada. In addition to the incredible academic curriculum, I had the privilege of immersing myself in UW's Co-op program, an invaluable experience that fueled my curiosity and deepened my understanding of technology. I can't stress enough how transformative the Co-op program was for me!

During my time at UW, I embarked on six Co-op placements, each offering unique insights into various industries, from the corporate realm at the Toronto Stock Exchange to the smaller-scale operations of a Cayman Islands law firm. With an Electrical Engineering degree in hand and a couple of years of work under my belt, finding meaningful employment was a smoother journey.

My career took an unexpected turn when I transitioned to consulting on CRM applications at Deloitte, which eventually led me to eLoyalty, where I specialized as a Cisco contact center deployment engineer. Working with a diverse range of clients, including industry giants like Maersk Data and Wells Fargo, was incredibly rewarding.

My Cisco journey caught the attention of the company itself, leading me to switch from post-sales to pre-sales roles. Joining Cisco's Public Sector team, I had the privilege of supporting organizations like Los Angeles County and LA Unified School District, gradually expanding my horizons to serve commercial and enterprise sectors, including esteemed clients like American Express and Qualcomm.

However, like many, the pandemic brought unforeseen changes. With tech companies ramping up hiring efforts, I saw an opportunity to pivot from Cisco to Microsoft. Departing Cisco after 15 enriching years was a bittersweet decision, but the warmth and welcome from Microsoft made it feel like the right step forward.
